The first things you notice about Debbie Stewart is her infectious smile, her positive attitude and her willingness to help out wherever needed.
Debbie Stewart is currently in her sixth term as Secretary of the Far West Ski Association. She is actively involved with the travel sub-committee. In 2009 and 2011, she served on assistant Trip Director for the Far West European Trips. She served as Assistant Trip Director for the first Far West Dive trip to Cozumel in 2010. In addition she has be a tremendous help to the staff for the Far West North America Ski Weeks. Debbie is eager to help the fundraising efforts to support and grow the Athletic Scholarship Program. She assisted in tripling the fundraising over the past five years.
Debbie has been the Sierra Council VP of Travel for the past 7 years. She has work steadily to increase the council’s participation on FWSA Ski Week trips. In 2011, she brought 72 participants to the Far West Ski Week in Sun Valley. During FWSA Ski Week, she promotes and recruits many racers to “just have fun” during the Council Challenge race. Sierra Council has had as many as four teams under her leadership. Debbie also organizes the Council’s annual Winter/Holiday party. She has represented Sierra Council during the bidding presentations at the Far West convention for several years.
Sequoia Ski Club:
Debbie has served six terms as Sequoia Ski Club President and nine terms as club VP of Travel. She is currently the Vice-President. In 2010, she served as interim Treasurer. She created mutually beneficial relations with the local Sports Chalet procuring equipment presentations, discounts and free tune and wax cards. Debbie redesigned and printed the club’s membership brochure. She was instrumental in inviting China Peak’s new owner Tim Cohee to give a presentation to the club.
Debbie is actively involved in supporting the Valley Oak SPCA, American Cancer Society, YMCA, Kaweach Delta Hospital, Adopt a Family for Christmas, Toys for Tots and so much more.
