Dennis Heffley has served on the FWSA Board of Directors the last six years as the President of Bay Area Snow Sports Council. He was originally elected Council President in 2004. Dennis has been a strong participant on the FWSA BOD, providing strong leadership and appropriate discussion on all issues relating to the success of FWSA.

During his term and as Council President, Dennis was involved in bringing the FWSA Convention back to the Bay Area. In 2001 BAC hosted the Convention in Reno, in the Bay Area in 1996 and then in 2007. Dennis provided essential leadership in finding a suitable location for the Convention in Santa Clara in 2007 and in developing a consensus among the FWSA board to select a site from the several alternatives. Dennis put together a strong host committee of prior Convention veterans and new volunteers who did a wonderful job in managing a hugely successful convention and annual meeting. The Convention proved to be one of the best recently held.

In addition to duties as Council President, he continues in a long-time role as liaison/volunteer for Disabled Sports USA. He has promoted and participated during the past twelve years in the BAC Ski for All Benefit for DSUSA and since the inception of the Annual DSUSA Ski Challenge Race. He arranges for DSUSA Ski School racers at Alpine Meadows to come to the BAC Singles and Open League races to occasionally fore run courses.

Dennis has been an active representative for FWSA and his Council at annual meetings of the National Ski Council Federation, the annual San Jose Ski Show, the Icer Air & SnowBomb Shows in San Francisco, and the annual Mountain Travel Symposium. He races for the BAC Singles League and participates in the Nor Cal and FWSA Championships. He volunteers as a starter at Singles League races, Nor Cal & Far West Championships. Dennis gathers donations from a variety of vendors and resorts for the BAC/Bay Area Singles Ski League Annual Snow Ball. In his spare time he has been trip leader for past Bay Area Snow Sports Council ~ Singles League Ski Weeks.

Dennis is committed to “doing the job right” without sacrificing the fun part of participation. His sense of humor provides much appreciated levity during periods of hard work. He is truly deserving of the Mullin Award.
